The Jefferson Middle School 8th Grade String Orchestra competed in the IGSMA District 3 Organizational Contest on Friday, February 25, 2011 in Normal. Their performance earned them a Division I (Excellent) rating, qualifying them to advance to the IGSMA State Organizational Contest in April. Enjoy these three selections from their performance. "Dance Diabolique," "English Fugue," and "Wedding Day At Troldhaugen."

Greetings from JMS,

A few updates as we begin second semester. We are rescheduling the Finish Line Party originally scheduled for this Friday, January 7th. We are working to coordinate a date with the Refinery. New invitations will be distributed when a new date is selected. Next Tuesday, January 11th at 7:00 p.m. we will hold our January PTSA meeting. Representatives from both Central and Centennial will be here to provide a presentation on what you need to know to find success in high school. Following their presentation there will be an opportunity to ask questions. This is an excellent opportunity to understand all the course offerings as students prepare to create four year high school plans if they are in the 8th grade. All grade level families and their students are welcome to attend. Following the high school presentation, we will conclude with a brief business meeting. Finally, attached is a community forum flyer that may be of interest to families.
